Extradited FIFA official pleads not guilty

A Brazilian FIFA official who headed the 2014 World Cup organising committee and was extradited this week from Switzerland has pleaded not guilty in a New York courtroom to charges stemming from a sprawling bribery case.

Jose Maria Marin appeared on Tuesday before a judge in federal court.

He will be freed on $US15 million ($A21 million) bond.

Marin is the second FIFA official to waive extradition to face charges in the US in a $US150 million ($A210 million) corruption case linked to broadcasting rights.

The 83-year-old was arrested in May.
